ONB2 is a Bluefusion Band.  What’s Bluefusion ? I’m glad you ask. Maybe you’ve heard the term Acid Grass or someone say they’re Grassing up a song . That normally means a Rock song is being done in a Blue Grass style. Since most all music in the United States evolved from the acoustic instruments of Blues and Blue Grass, I think it’s perfectly natural to play a Rock song in a Rock style, using the same acoustic instruments used by those who pioneered the way for the vast array of musical styles we enjoy today.

blue·fu·sion \ blü-fyü-zhen \ n 1 : the coalition of various music styles such as blues and rock, performed with traditional stringed Appalachian instruments. 2 : the process of melting music marked by recurrent minor intervals and melancholy lyrics with acoustics, free improvisation and close harmonies.

The ONB2 Band includes: Maria Williams , Jeff Ellison & Phil Shelton. The Band’s name derived from the wedding tradition of wearing something Old, New, Borrowed & Blue.

I begin learning to play church hymns on the piano around age five. I’m sure these early piano lessons were a great contribution to my musical development. Once I started elementary school I took up the cello in the school orchestra.  Early in my adolescence however, my journey detoured from classical music when I received my first guitar from the K Mart. Soon I was playing rock music with friends and entering talent   shows. When I enrolled in high school I met Carl and Joe Bush. The three of us joined a cover band in which I play the bass. After graduation we all lost touch until recently when Carl and I were reunited and he turned me on to the mandolin.

I'm a part-time singer, songwriter, musician (playing bass and guitar), harmonist, and experimentalist. I struggle to feed a voracious appetite for variety in music.

At present, I play a lot of Americana-type stuff - with The LoneTones, ONB2, and any other intriguing combinations that present themselves.

My secret dream is to change sets (and selves) every night of the week . . . maybe like this . . .
Sunday: Mavis Staples.
Monday: Judy Garland.
Tuesday: Wanda Jackson.
Wednesday: Anita O'Day.
Thursdays: Bessie Smith.
Friday: My own self.
Saturday: George Clinton.

Mmm-mm! Might be a short run, but it'd sure be a tasty one.
